Adi Mahalel

Visiting Assistant Professor of Yiddish Studies, Dr. Adi Mahalel received his doctoral degree in Hebrew and Yiddish Studies at Columbia University. His book on the radical period of Hebrew and Yiddish writer Y. L. Peretz was published by SUNY Press in 2023. Adi’s areas of interest include modern Hebrew and Yiddish literature, Jewish literatures in modern times, Jewish American theater, Israeli culture, film and media studies, and the crossroads between culture and politics. He has taught courses in Jewish culture and language at Columbia University and at the YIVO Institute.
