UMD’s Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies becomes the new headquarters for an updated scholarly journal.Israel Studies Review: an Interdisciplinary Journal (ISR), the official journal for the Association for Israel Studies (AIS) is taking up a new residence at the College of Arts and Humanities’ Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies. Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies Director, Yoram Peri, is the new editor and managing editor of the journal is now Paul L. Scham, executive director of the institute.

ISR was previously published under the name Israel Studies Forum. Along with a new location and title, the journal has a new format, complete with graphics, design, and content.

Israel Studies Review:

The Israel Studies Review (ISR) is the journal of the Association for Israel Studies, an international and interdisciplinary scholarly organization dedicated to the study of all aspects of Israeli society, history, politics, and culture.

ISR explores modern and contemporary Israel from the perspective of the social sciences, history, the humanities, and cultural studies and welcomes submissions on these subjects. The journal also pays close attention to the relationships of Israel to the Middle East and to the wider world, and encourages scholarly articles with this broader theoretical or comparative approach provided the focus remains on modern Israel.

Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies:

The Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park is dedicated to the study of Israel in all its variety, but also to presenting political, cultural and general interest programs featuring Israel and its place in the Middle East.
