Regev Ben-David

Regev Ben-David is the Israel Institute Postdoctoral teaching fellow at the Joseph and Alma Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies and the Meyerhoff Program and Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. His research and teaching focuses on Zionist thought, Jewish identity, and Israeli society, with particular attention to the place of Jewish tradition within secular Zionist culture. His PhD dissertation, at Tel Aviv University's School of Jewish Studies, examined the shaping of Modern Hebrew culture through the use of classical Jewish sources in public speeches and publicist writings of Berl Katznelson, one of the leaders of Israel's Labor Movement.
 

Ben-David has held research fellowships and positions at the Kogod Research Center at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem, at the Tikvah Fund in New York, at the Safra Center for Ethics at Tel Aviv University, at Metzilah Center under Prof. Ruth Gavison, and at Pnima Think Tank. He's published in a wide range of platforms, from academic journals to Israeli daily media such as Ha'aretz, Yedioth Ahronot, Makor Rishon and others, as well as interviews on multiple podcasts. Ben-David also authored numerous commissioned papers for philanthropic foundations and professional organizations in Jewish Education and Jewish Culture. 
 

Ben-David holds an M.A. in Political Science from Bar-Ilan University, where his Master's thesis focused on Hybrid Jewish Identities in Contemporary Israel, and a B.A. in Psychology and the Amirim interdisciplinary Honors Program from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is a frequent lecturer in academic and public forums across Israel.
