Morad Elsana

Dr. Elsana is a research scholar, author, and professional lecturer at the Arab World Studies Program at the American University in Washington, D.C. Previously, he served as a visiting assistant professor of law at the Californian Western School of Law and the University of Maryland College Park. 

Dr. Elsana holds a Doctorate degree in Juridical Science and Master of Law from the Washington College of Law, and his scholarly work focuses on the Bedouin indigenous land rights.

From 2001-2009, Dr. Elsana served as a lawyer and director of Adalah-The Legal Center of Arab Minority Rights – the Naqab Office where he worked in many cases of Palestinian Bedouin human rights including, eviction and displacement, house demolition, and education. 

Elsana is the recipient of several prestigious fellowships such as the Fulbright Outreach fellowship, the NIF Civil Rights Leadership fellowship, and the McGill University “Middle East Program for Civil Society & Peace Building” fellowship. 

His research focuses on Arab World Studies, Human Rights, Indigenous Peoples’ Rights, Legal Pluralism, Comparative Law, Racial Justice, and the Arab Minority in Israel. He is the author of several academic articles and a book entitled Indigenous Land Rights in Israel: A Comparative Study of the Bedouin (Routledge, 2021).
